Serve in San Jose Adentro

CMM leads groups to the village of San Jose Adentro in the Dominican Republic. Over the years, groups have helped expand schools and churches, built and repaired homes, installed water pipes, shared food and clothing, held medical, eyeglass and dental clinics, and led Bible studies, youth Bible camps and street evangelism — and lives have been changed.

Our hope is to involve others in a life-changing experience: accountants and truck drivers, physicians and teachers, students — anyone who is seeking to show the love of God to others.

Individuals are welcome to join an upcoming group, and churches and organizations can build a group of their own. Each group has a group leader who plans the trip with CMM’s connections in the country.

Ways you can serve

  • Food distribution in the village and nearby communities
  • School supplies and repair projects at Escuela San Jose Adentro
  • Home construction, repairs and painting
  • Vacation Bible School for children and Bible studies for adults
  • Medical clinics, if your team has medical skills
  • Street evangelism alongside the local church, for bilingual groups
  • Preaching, teaching, leading worship or interpreting

What to expect

Life on a mission trip

A trip to San Jose Adentro is simple, shared and full. Your group leader shares the full trip guidelines before you travel.

Where you’ll stay

Teams stay together at CMM’s Twin Palms houses in San Jose Adentro. There are three houses on the property; sleeping areas are usually separated by gender, and the group shares meals in one house. Water comes from collected rainwater, so please keep showers short.

Meals

Your group leader plans three meals a day, and the cost is included in your trip. Breakfast is usually eggs, yogurt and fruit; lunch, sandwiches or beans and rice; dinner, meat with rice or pasta. Many groups have a local cook prepare a traditional dinner one night.

Getting around

Transportation and a translator are arranged through CMM’s trusted connections in the country and included in the trip cost. They help plan your days and guide you in the community.

Packing and money

Pack your own things in a carry-on; you’ll also check a bag filled with supplies for the mission. Bring about $20 in Dominican pesos (around RD$1,000) for small needs when you arrive. Currency exchange is arranged after you arrive.

Conduct and safety

You’re a guest on a Christian mission trip: dress modestly, skip political clothing and serve with a humble attitude. Alcohol, smoking and vaping aren’t permitted. Go out in pairs, stay on the property at night, and follow your group leader.

Free time

Many groups add a beach day in Sosúa or a shopping day in the city for souvenirs.

The spiritual impact that the trip had on my family is still felt even today. Seeing God work in tangible ways and the connections we made with the members of the community — we are so grateful for the opportunity to serve in this way.
